Benni Raich showed again who the King of skiing is

Benni Raich showed again who the King of skiing is

The Austrian skier Benni Raich won the men’s slalom in Salt Lake City this Saturday Nov. 11th. After the first trail he was in fifth place nearly a whole second behind the leader Body Miller from the USA. Nobody believed in Benni Raich’s having a chance to reach the podium but he proved them wrong and stood on the top. With an unbelievable strong second trail he proved to the world that he was still king on skies. Benni’s strong second trail put him over the leader, Body Miller.

The interviewer asked Benni Raich how he was able to make himself the winner of this race after a fluffed first trail. He answer was, “It’s my job to do that and everybody wants to do his job as well as possible!”

This guy dominates the men’s slalom for now sixth races and it doesn’t seem to be possible to beat him. Everything is going on perfect in his life. He is doing his job very well and even his girlfriend Marlies Schild, who is also a skier, has a lot of ranks on the podium. Lots of people wonder what their secret of success is.

Austrian Geography

Austria is surrounded by 7 states namely Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia. It is a really small country in the heart of Europe. It has a landscape from 84,000 km² and 63% of whole Austria is mountains. Just 32% of the land is under 500 m sea level. Furthermore it is divided into 9 provinces namely Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Kärnten, Steiermark, Oberösterreich, Niederösterreich, Burgenland and Wien. Nearly all the provinces have their special landscape and attractions. In Vorarlberg, Tyrol and the North parts of Kärnten and the south parts of Salzburg there are the mountains. South Kärnten and Burgenland have the lakes and Steiermark, Ober and Niederösterreich are flat.  Vienna is a single province and at the same time the capital and an amazing city.  Whatever you want, the Austrian landscape offers a lot. You can join the capital to have city spirit, visit the mountains or join all the lakes with their really clean water. You can also walk through the wood where about 45,000 different kinds of animals have their home and with a little bit of luck you can see a deer on its way through the trees.

Austria has a population of 8 million with 98 inhabitants per km² and the capital Vienna has the biggest population of 1.6 million. Most of the other people are living rural.

The weather in Austria varies from season to season because of it being in the centrist zone. In winter there are temperatures about minus 20 and in summer it can become quite hot with about 38 degrees.

Austria is so small and the landscape in the North is so different compared to the South which makes it so interesting for tourists to visit it.

Mozart the genius- chapter 2

After Mozart’s quitting his job as a concertmaster he was looking for another job in Salzburg. He wasn’t able to find what he wanted and thus he became and independent composer (1781-1791). Mozart settled down in Vienna and there he composed his most beautiful operas, piano and violin concerts etc.

Some examples: Opera buffa Le nozze di Figaro
Opera seria La clemenza di Tito

One of the most famous operas is the “Opera Die Zauberflöte”

The time for having a family came. On August the 4th 1782 Mozart married Constanze Weber and they had six children. Four kids died shortly after they were born just to boys named Karl Thomas and Franz Xaver survived their childhood. Grandfather Leopold visited Mozart two times in Vienna and died 1787.

Mozart’s dead and his last compositions

After showing the most famous opera DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE to the audience on November the 20th 1791 Mozart became ill and on December the 5th 1791 he died at the age of 35. The real reason for his dieing so young is until now unknown. It is said that he had a fever or rheumatism. Mozart himself believed in his being poisoned by anybody. He was talking about that to his wife a couple weeks before he died. It is also said that he died as a poor man because of his not being able to handle with money.

Mozart the genius

Mozart is the most famous man in Austria and with his unbelievable fascinating music he is well known all over the world. Lot’s of Asian people come to Salzburg to go to the music university called Mozarteum to study his sonatas, operas, piano and violin concerts etc.

The year 2006 is a special one because of it being Mozart’s 250th birthday and it’s well celebrated which many different events. Furthermore you can buy Mozart candies, chocolate and even yoghurt.  Everybody heard from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart but who was this genius and how did he spent his life?

January the 27th in Salzburg a boy named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born as the seventh and last child of the musician Leopold Mozart and his wife Anna Maria Mozart.

That’s Mozart’s house of birth in Salzburg

Leopold recognized early what little genius his son was and thus he supported Wolfgang.

The boy learned playing the piano and the violin and at the age of 6 he composed his first Andante and Allegro. Therefore the family Mozart started a trip through West Europe to introduce their two children Wolfgang and Nannerl to the aristocracies.

During this trip Wolfgang composed his first sonatas for piano and violin and also the first symphonies.

Little Mozart became very popular and at the age of 16 he got a job as a  concertmaster in Salzburg (1772-1777). That didn’t mean that Mozart stopped traveling around to present his music. He tried to escape the strict orders of his job in Salzburg by traveling to Italy and Vienna where his first piano concert was created.

Back in Salzburg he struggled hard to become also established in his home city. To reach that, he made the Drama per musica 2 re` pastore seen by the audience but it was a failure. He was fed up with the strict orders and cancelled his job.

Austria the heart of Europe

My name is Cornelia Steiner and when I’m asked where I’m from there is sometimes a lot of confusion. I’m from Austria and the first reaction of most people is “Oh Australia that’s exciting! Are you from Sydney or maybe Melbourne?”

Oh no, no, I come from Austria, a small country in the middle of Europe and I live in a small village with a population of about 1200.

My country is very small and virtually unknown by the rest of the world although it’s a very interesting place with a tremendously colourful history and a lot of culture. Furthermore the high mountains have to be visited when traveling through my country. While climbing the steep, high rocks you’ll become thirsty and you can drink the water from any mountain source because of its purity. Another aspect of the Austrian culture is their food. The Austrian cuisine is varied. It doesn’t matter if you like the sweet, hot, or meat there are national dishes for everybody.

The biggest tourist attraction is SALZBURG with its famous music genius Mozart. The music composed by Mozart in the 17 century will always be liked by people and thus it has stayed contemporary for more than 200 years. This year is special because it’s the 250th birthday of Mozart. It is widely celebrated throughout Austria.

A lot of people believe that America is the only important country in the world, this is because  it’s portrayed as the most powerful, BUT they are wrong. There are many smaller countries like Austria which have just as much to offer as the USA.
